Pamela Hartigan speaks at the closing plenary of the Skoll World Forum 2011

Pamela Hartigan speaks at the closing Plenary at the Skoll World Forum 2011. Hartigan is director of the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and thanks Paula Kravitz, the curator of the Forum.

And so we come to the end of this eighth Skoll World Forum, our annual gathering where we appreciate the strength of the convergence with one another that Teilhard de Chardin talks about as necessary to become a person. I cannot end the forum without highlighting that its conception and production has been very much an example of the convergence between the Skoll Foundation sitting in Palo Alto and the Skoll Center here at Oxford.

And in particular, I would like to highlight the contribution of my dear colleague and friend, the incomparable and unflappable Paula Kravitz, who is the curator of this forum. I also want to highlight Sarah Borgman, who is the Associate Director. Where are you, Sarah. Producer Jill Oltan and program manager, Lorna Donaldson, who I think I must have corresponded with.

These people make organizing the forum look like a walk in the park or maybe even a jog in the park. I want to thank our production partners including Heather Mason and her team from A Caspian Production who year after year who have accompanied thus in this processing producing a sperm. Thank you.

Also, a huge thank you to Maura McCarthy and her team, to Epicore and to creative partners as well as to my colleagues at the Said Business School for their dedication and hard work to making this forum a success.

And, of course, a very special thanks to my wonderful team at the Skoll Center, Alexis Udinger, Brooke Williams, Vanery Sar, Matt Scott, and Pippa Hitchins. Thank you. And so, until we come together again next year, I'll close with an Irish farewell that goes as follows. "May your joys be as bright as the morning and your sorrows merely be shadows that fade in the sunlight of love.

May you have enough happiness to keep you sweet, enough trials to keep you strong, enough sorrows to keep you human, enough hope to keep you happy, enough failure to keep you humble. Enough success to keep you eager. Enough friends to give you comfort. Enough faith encourage in yourself to banish sadness.

Enough wealth to meet your needs and one thing more, enough determination to make each day a more wonderful day than the day before. Thank you!
