Dr. Nicholas Muraguri is the Director of the Global Secretariat that is coordinating international efforts to eliminate HIV among children in 22 priority countries that constitute 90% of infections. In 2009, the Global Plan towards elimination of new HIV infections among children by 2015 and keeping their mothers alive was launched at the United National General Assembly high level meeting on AIDS and adopted by member states. The Global Plan includes two ambitious targets for 2015: reduce the number of newly infected children with HIV by 90% and reduce the number of pregnancy related deaths among women living with HIV by 50%.
