Ricardo Salinas is one of Latin America’s leading entrepreneurs and a man convinced of the potential of 21st century Mexico. He is chairman and founder of Grupo Salinas a group of companies with more than 90,000 employees, operating in ten different countries, in industries as diverse as media, telecommunications, banking, insurance, retail, electricity generation and mining. Throughout his entire business career Ricardo Salinas has maintained a strong social commitment. He created a series of non-profit initiatives, including Fundación Azteca, an organization that deals with a wide range of social issues in Mexico, the United States, Peru and Guatemala. Other social initiatives founded and supported by Mr. Salinas include, Caminos de la Libertad, that spreads the message of freedom throughout Latin America; Kybernus, an organization that identifies and nurtures social and political leadership throughout Mexico’s interior and Esperanza Azteca an expanding group of more than 50 youth orchestras encompassing more than 13,000 children.
