Lakshmi runs the secretariat of the Girls Not Brides partnership, and is focused on supporting efforts of members to learn from one another’s experiences and successes; mobilising policy, financial and programme support to end child marriage; and raising awareness of this practice and potential solutions by encouraging discussion at local, national and international levels. Lakshmi's past experiences include overseeing policy, advocacy, communications and resource mobilization activities at the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics in Geneva, Switzerland. Before this, she was responsible for global health partnerships at the World Economic Forum's Global Health Initiative, where she focused on putting global health on the international agenda. She has also previously set up and run a telecommunications project to support the management of HIV/AIDS in Rwanda with the help of mobile phones. Lakshmi holds degrees from the University of Cambridge and Columbia University.
